A Quiet Work Environment

When I'm not out on client meetings and lunches, my remote workdays have been busy and quiet.  Who would've thought I wouldn't miss an office full of people complaining about temperature, music, cursing and the constant stress about policies and procedures, audits, etc.  There were so many distractions that I only realize now.  I am much more productive working at home with the pups snoring behind me or at coffee shops with a coworker.

A New Job

Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and do something unexplainable.  I wasn't really looking for a new job but it found me.  My boss from a year ago started his own agency and offered me a position with much more flexibility and I will be working with clients I worked with for many years previously.  It's familiar and just happened to fit nicely with changes in my life lately.  I have a cozy home office set up going on.  It's good.

Changes

I had a job I really enjoyed and one day it all changed dramatically.  I turned to a mentor for guidance who gave me the courage to change my situation and find a new job.  A job I started this week and on my second day, my new employer sent me a bouquet of flowers from my new "family."

Somewhat The End

Today was not the end of the world as the Mayan calendar predicted, but nonetheless it was a terrible day that put an end to almost a five year work relationship. Without going into too many revealing details, it was a partnership that was often stressful, challenging, respectful, appreciative and fullfilling professionally. Not the end of the world but a change that I would never imagine to happen.

Burnt Cabin on Lake Tenkiller

Work meetings provided me the opportunity to stay on Lake Tenkiller at Burnt Cabin this week. I'd been here a few years ago on a motorcycle trip with my girlfriends (Hey, Melanie & Teresa) and had a great time. For the price of a motel in town, I could stay in a small, cozy cabin with a lake view, fix my own food and enjoy the great outdoors. Beats a motel any day and I brought Mom along to keep me company. While I was working, she spent the day lounging and fishing. And me, I just work hard and play hard.

Aggieville

A coworker and I are staying a couple nights in Manhattan across the street from KState University. After our work meetings we've had some time to spend in Aggieville and pool side. The pool has given me the opportunity to test out the underwater features of my new camera. It's an Olympus Stylus Tough 8010 with 14 megapixels that's shockproof from 6.6 feet and waterproof up to 33 feet. It should be just the rugged camera my life requires.
